Evacuation Plan Louvre Museum

Statement of the problem

In 5 days, we had to do research, create model, and write a paper to an open-ended interdisciplinary modeling problem. Our problem is designing a evacuation model for Lourve museum which can evacuate all occupants as quickly and safely as possible.
The model needs to satisfying these conditions:

• Taking diversity of visitors - speaking variety of languages, groups traveling together, and disabled visitors - into consideration
• Considering when and how many additional exits might be utilized to preserve security of the museum
• Identifying and resolving bottlenecks
• Considering different types of potential threats

Then, we have to discuss how the Louvre would implement that model.

Contribution to the Team

I tried to apply my knowledge in Operations Research class to design the right model. In the last two days, I spent most of the time writing codes to verify our result. My knowledge from Algorithms and Data Structures became handy in writing correct and efficient programs.

This competition helps me apply my knowledge in a meaningful way. My capabilities is not used for earning grades any more. Instead, it has direct impact on helping and improving our life.
