WORK EXPERIENCE
April 2019 - Present
Lead Software Manager
High Perfomance Computing Team. St. Olaf College
After a year working as a Software Developer, I was promoted into Lead Software Manager where I focused more on the platform serving the applications of Computer Science Department. I considered the security as well as performances of those applications and used Nginx, Dokku, Docker, and Minio. On the other hand, with the graduation of many senior developers, our team had to recruit more people; therefore, I spent time training new developers.
April 2018 - April 2019
Software Developer
High Perfomance Computing Team. St. Olaf College
Originally, by using Python, Django, HTML, CSS, and PostgreSQL, I developed and added new features to Cochlear Implant Training Application, an environment users can get familiar with cochlear implant devices. Some of the features I added are allowing users to track their progress and save questions for later practice. Here, I truly observed power of Test Driven Development when I added new features to the app because most of the bugs can be easily seen and fixed.
Challenge: I had to learn Python, Django, HTML, CSS, PostgreSQL, Dokku, and Nginx in the first week (I learned some of them during the school year but not in the level of production). In addition, I had to learn about Test Driven Development mechanism to implement test cases for an application. However, the real challenge arose when I had to read the code from previous developers. Eventually, I overcame this problem by writing test cases for preexisting codes, from small to large function, which allows me to understand the code deeper.
